Mathew Caine

I have been involved in creating photographic images since I was given my first brownie camera at the age of ten. Always fascinated by the way the images were transformed from what I could see and experience to a piece of paper, or now a computer screen. I love the way that photography is able to concentrate and direct our attention on what the artist intends to say while leaving the final composition up for interpretation by the viewer. Even knowing how it all works, I still believe there is magic involved.

I try to make images that utilize my training in art in terms of composition, negative space, balance, and lighting. Knowing the rules has enabled me to break them creatively. An artist is able to gift the viewer with fresh views of the world in which he exists.
