Ann Maglinte
Ann Meyer Maglinte has always loved watercolors since she was
given her first set of Prang pan watercolors as a child. She began
drawing animals for imaginary children's books. Several years later
her uncle gave her an antique dip pen set and so began her love of
pen and ink and calligraphy.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from San Jose State
University and has worked as a graphic designer, craftsperson,
herbalist, teacher, musician, and caterer. In the 1980’s Ann was
commissioned to do pen and ink illustrations and maps for several
books by Teresa Edgerton, including The Green Lion Trilogy, all
published by Ace/Berkley Publishing Group.
In 2014, three books that she illustrated were released: Secrets of
the Oak Woodlands, by Kate Marianchild Composting Abbie: A
Whale of a Story, by Jed Diamond & The Wind in Me, by Diane
Smalley
She teaches watercolor for Mendocino College and painting at
River Oak Charter School in Ukiah, as well as doing graphic
design and book illustration. Ann also sculpts the garden plaques
for Midnight Moon Designs, the business she and her husband,
Jon, own. Their work can be seen at Northcoast Artists Gallery in
Fort Bragg and her paintings are in collections all over the world.
She also enjoys working with textiles, and her silk and rayon
scarves are available locally.
This fall she will continue teaching watercolor for Mendocino
College online.
She and her family live in a rambling home in the countryside of
Willits, with their 2 cats.
