My interest in art started at the age of 6 as I watched with complete fascination, my cousin paint Halloween decorations on storefront windows in our small downtown area of Arcadia, California. The idea of creating my own art took hold then, and the passion of and for art has continued and evolved for the rest of my life. This has been a process and journey that has brought me much joy and understanding about the oneness of my own being and life.
It has taught me how to "really" look at an object as I try to understand it's uniqueness and capture it's essence and beauty on paper and through my camera lens. It has also taught me patience and understanding of my own process of not only creating art, but of living my life, and the outward expression of both.
So for 58 years this journey of learning my art has taken me to many places and the experimenting of many styles, to now living in this little community of Willits expressing myself through the mediums of watercolors and photography.
To be outside in the natural world, searching for and capturing through my camera, the beauty and aliveness of the natural world is one of my most fulfilling experiences. To then take these images back home to my studio and put them down on my watercolor paper extends this experience and gives me much joy and fulfillment in my life.
To share these images with my friends, family and community is the "icing on the cake", the sweet part we love the most, and for me it completes the cycle of creating and expressing my art.
